Week 3 - Trends & Traditions Week 3 and the pace is starting to pick up! Looking back on week 1 & 2, I started strong and helped make the first few weeks of the term a lot easier workload wise, as I’ve been making sure to keep ahead by a week or two content wise. I like that I’ve been able to clearly set out exactly where we’ll be heading each week, what to expect and get down all relevant notes. Also know what my creative type is as well as seeing where exactly my highest strength lie, has been useful to see how my brain works, as well as, who I have the capability to become as a designer. I come to realise that my passion for design stems from my interest in psychology and therefore, my interest in people. How they think, what their lifestyles are like, what the implications of that means for how they may use a space and what their interests/values are so that I can design with them in mind. I know that I am a tactile learner as well as an experimental learn...

Week 1 - So It Begins Week 1 of uni - the overly optimistic and ambitious self is in full swing. All full of beautifully crafted notes, colour coding systems of encyclopaedia like notes in preparation for the weeks ahead. Fresh note books, new sticky notes and todo list writing pads. This is week that everything feels structured and exciting - planning out schedules for the rest of the trimester, what days are my study days, when are my assessments due, when are my deadlines and where else can I fit in my uni hours outside of the classroom. The pure satisfaction of planning out an academic calendar, spending egregious amounts of time colour coding, plotting, marking and then placing it somewhere that will be front and centre in the weeks to come, nothing else beats it. Even, if we know in reality, that calendar will become more of an ominous presence as workloads increase and then the overly critical creative starts to take over, completely ignorant to the seemingly rapidly ...

Week 2 - Pathways & Planing for Success! Week 2 has commenced and the optimistic student is still going strong. Preparing/working on 1st round of assessments, well set out study routine and, of course, aesthetically pleasing note books, complete with colour coding, diagrams and resources. Taking the time to go through all of the additional resources has been an absolute game changer and has ment that I’ve been able to make links between some subjects. For example, some of the supplier resources we’ve been provided with in CAD have been brilliant resources for Product Knowledge. So I am working through the next few weeks of content for both, including readings, videos and theory recordings. This way I can focus more on the studio sessions and dedicate more time to the upcoming assessments. She’s a last minute city gal with horrific time management skills! I’m literally baby proofing myself against my habits 👶
